Aj vám sa zdá karanténa taká dlhá? Neviete, čo so sebou? Doprajte si konečne oddych s knihou v ruke a k nej si urobte nejakú kávu, poprípade čaj, a prichystajte si ešte niečo na chrúmanie. A hoj sa do sveta fantázie! 🙂

Prinášame Vám zopár tipov na skvelé čítanie:

Jenny Offill: Weather

Táto kniha otvorene hovorí o každodenných starostiach, problémoch a úzkostiach.

“You are not some disinterested bystander. / Exert yourself.” -Epictetus • If it were possible to flush all the postmodern anxieties out of your body and onto the page, would you want to read them? You would if Jenny Offill was organizing the typeset, and that’s what she does in WEATHER. This isn’t a novel in the classic sense. It gives only the barest of nods toward a plot, and its meandering, archival quality is reminiscent of Olivia Laing’s Crudo or Valeria Luiselli’s Lost Children Archive. But as with her last book (Dept. of Speculation) it manages to extract a jumble of thoughts and emotions specific to the riotous anthropocene brain and re-order them into something beautiful and exacting. • Thrumming through these dense, melancholic pages is a preoccupation with the systemic disorders of our time: the equation of productivity with happiness; the tightening noose of scarcity around already vast resource inequalities; the ancillary drugging of the environment as we attempt to treat our ailing minds. Offill’s protagonist, a “feral librarian,” is struggling to square the intellectual knowledge that oceans rise and empires fall with the newly visceral understanding that we are are now living through both of these abstractions. • If marinating in nebulous existential angst isn’t one of your primary extracurricular activities, then maybe you won’t love this as much as I did. But I found something instructive in the lines of these pages; a hope that maybe we can talk about the weather—small and inconsequential—while also talking about the Weather: global, urgent, demanding our immediate attention. • Have you read this one? Planning to? Ever thought about what and who would make up your doomstead? • (Also no spoilers but I LOVE THE SHIT out of the easter egg at the end of the book 🐓)

Kiley Reid: Such a Fun Age

Zober knihu a utekaj to zistiť!

Colum McCann: Apeirogon, A Novel

Hadley Freeman: House of Glass

Anne Enright: Actress

Liz Moore: Long Bright River

Crissy Van Meter: Creatures

Hanya Yanagihara: A little life

„He had looked at Jude, then, and had felt that same sensation he sometimes did when he thought, really thought of Jude and what his life had been: a sadness, he might have called it, but it wasn't a pitying sadness; it was a larger sadness, one that seemed to encompass all the poor striving people, the billions he didn't know, all living their lives, a sadness that mingled with a wonder and awe at how hard humans everywhere tried to live, even when their days were so very difficult, even when their circumstances were so wretched. Life is so sad, he would think in those moments. It's so sad, and yet we all do it.“ – Hanya Yanagihara, A Little Life I finished this book a couple of weeks ago and this quote sums it up for me. It gives you such a feeling of deepest sadness that it‘s hard to bear sometimes. And still you carry on reading (or listening, in my case), because you feel like you owe it to the characters to stick by them until the very end. This book made my cry so horribly – and it‘s just not the sad story of this book, it‘s a sadness that stretches across the whole world, includes everyone‘s sadness – but at the same time it shows you everything and everyone that is worth living for. It‘s beautifully written but I wouldn‘t recommend this book to everyone, as it is incredibly hard to get through. It broke my heart but at the same time, it was a very cathartic experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 #alittlelife #hanyayanagihara #einwenigleben #bookreview #bookrecommendations #buchtipp #bibliophile #booknerd #schönebücher #literaryfiction #stayhomeandread #rezension #buchempfehlung #readingchallenge #judestfrancis #belletristik #bookstagram #bookstagramgermany
